Background Information

Oral and Maxillofacial surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. What makes Dr. Davidson unique to this specialty is that he holds dual degrees in both dentistry and medicine. Having degrees in both Dentistry and Medicine is a beneficial quality that Dr. Davidson offers when treating all of his patients, especially those patients with extensive health histories and those with special needs. Additionally, Dr. Davidson has additional training as a Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon, allowing him to fully understand a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, and facial regions. Dr. Davidson practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. Dr. Davidson can also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries, and fractures. For procedures requiring General Anesthesia, Dr. Davidson regularly maintains staff privileges at Tampa General Hospital.

Surgical Staff

Our staff is trained in assisting with Intravenous (IV) sedation in our state-of-the-art office setting. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery. IV sedation is a safer and, in most cases, a more affordable option to hospital-based general anesthesia. The surgical staff at Dr. Davidson’s office are experienced oral and maxillofacial surgery personnel, who assist in the administration of IV sedation and surgery. All staff are informed administrative personnel, well versed in health and insurance policies,  continually advance their skills through continuing education courses and are CPR certified.
